VoiceIX is a shared ethernet platform for exchange of Voice Over IP (VOIP) traffic.
The VoiceIX does not interfere in the actual voice calls or peering contracts
between participants. It provides a transparant ethernet path between participants.
Peering agreements, conditions, clearing, etc. are negotiated directly between participants.
Participants are concentrated on single shared platform, where many interconnects
can be combined efficiently on a high speed ethernet interface, without per call or
per Mbit/s traffic charges.
This brings large costs saveings in comparison to
seperate one-on-one private interconnects, and especially in comparion to traditional
E1, ISDN PRI and even SS7 interconnects.
The platform uses priority queuing to enable ultra-low delay and jitter
times and offers dedicated capacity, ensuring maxium call quality and stability,
vastly superiour in comparison to voice exchange over the public Internet.
VoiceIX is an initiative of the
NL-ix
Internet Exchange, which is the 5th largest IX in the world and which
itself is not a market party in the voice branche and is completely neutral.
VoiceIX already features 20+ VOIP providers of al types.
